What is RQA...

RQA was established in response to concerns over the documented level of inter-laboratory variability observed in the measurement of lung function throughout Australasia and beyond.

Monitoring precision and variability in the assessment of methodologies and instrumentation used to measure respiratory function.
RQA have developed a robust and effective program for external proficiency testing for documentation of reliability of respiratory function measurement. This program is specifically designed for monitoring precision and variability in the assessment of methodologies and instrumentation used to measure respiratory function including spirometry, pulmonary gas exchange, body plethysmography, bronchial provocation testing and exercise testing.

RQA provides a unique system to verify specific accuracy targets are achieved and maintained over time. This has particular application in drug trials and other projects where appropriate documentation of measurement reliability over time is paramount. As an independent quality monitoring process it is also appropriate for use in diagnostic clinical laboratories as an adjunct to existing quality assurance initiatives.

Accuracy, reliability, trending and drift detection.
RQA can develop customized internal quality assurance programs for monitoring measurement accuracy, reliability, trending and drift detection in all aspects of respiratory measurement.

RQA can assist in all aspects of respiratory quality management including design, implementation, data collection and result preparation and presentation.

Who's behind RQA...

RQA is a collaboration of respiratory scientists with a knowledge base derived from over 60 years of combined experience in clinical and research-based respiratory measurement.

Our early research in the 1980s into inter-laboratory variability in clinical respiratory measurement clearly demonstrated the need for an additional process over and above the existing internally-driven quality assurance initiatives. More recently, the requirement for more formal documentation of respiratory measurement performance in clinical drug trials provided the impetus to gathering a group of scientists with the required expertise to develop a system for external assessment of quality in respiratory measurement.

RQA was established in Melbourne, Australia in 2002 as a partnership of respiratory professionals committed to quality improvement in respiratory science. We are dedicated to achieving benchmark levels of accuracy and reliability in measurement of all elements of respiratory function.
